A Brief History Of Our Church

The church was started as First Presbyterian Church in old downtown Port Arthur on Mobile Street. 

The church relocated to Stadium Road and Gulfway Drive during the 1960's.  Westminster Presbyterian Church members merged with the members of First Presbyterian Church and changed the name of the church to Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. 

In 2007, the congregation purchased land for a new location north of Nederland.  In January 2008, St. John Lutheran Church welcomed us to meet in their facilities until our building is completed in 2009.
During that time, the former PCOC facility was sold to a new church development and the congregation voted to change their name to Providence Presbyterian Church.
